Blog: The Abundant Perennial

A quiet strip of unused land in front of Stan’s Café’s Edwardian building has become the focus of an ambitious and heartfelt collaboration between Fruit & Nut Village, Stan’s Café and Selly Oak Trust School. What began as a simple idea - to transform a neglected green space - has quickly evolved into a project rich with learning, community connection, and environmental renewal.

Fruit & Nut Village were invited to the University of Sussex's Growing Together conference.

In March 2025, we began working on three new sites in Billesley, creating new partnerships and friendships whilst doing so.

Laura Hackett, Druids Heath Area Manager, was interviewed by ITV recently on the ever-growing (see what we did there?) importance of green spaces.

We planted more fruit trees in on 9th February with Birmingham Progressive Synagogue for Tu B'Shvat.

Our wonderful volunteers were treated to a free day out at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens (BBG)...
