Who We Are

Fruit & Nut Village CIO is a charity based in Birmingham, growing orchards and perennial food spaces, and working with local communities to develop a range of edible landscapes. We manage around 70-80 growing spaces in total, across Balsall Heath, Druids Heath and Stirchley, but are also currently expanding into Lozells and Billesley.

Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop

Please join us at this beautiful allotment site at Hazelwell for a fruit tree pruning workshop! This will ensure the future growth of the trees in this growing space, whilst enjoying some company in nature and learning new skills.

Drizzly and cold at #KingdomForestGarden in #Stirchley on Monday morning, yet full of smiles!

The Tipping Point event at @bbgardens on 12-15th February 2026 allowed visitors to consider the changing #climate and its possible consequences. The focal point was Tipping Point, an immersive outdoor sound and light installation simulating a #forest #fire. Fruit & Nut Village was one of the local organisations sharing their work through stalls, talks and interactive activities. We were represented by our current Chair, Ewan, and new Board member Mark at this fantastic event, and we want to thank BBG for inviting us and hosting Tipping Point!

A bit of #pruning at #BullfinchForestGarden in #Stirchley this week, making sure our trees are growing to the best of their ability with our care and attention.

We pruned the precious trees in our shared #InterfaithOrchard in #CalthorpePark, #BalsallHeath last weekend, where we also shared a delicious picnic. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

We had a lovely morning yesterday in #DruidsHeath, planting four new trees - walnuts and hazelnuts - into #TheGreen #ForestGarden! The rain didn't deter the solid team, and Laura even provided delicious homemade flapjacks as a reward. Thank you to everyone who came and got covered in mud!

A bit of a buzz in #KingdomForestGarden in #Stirchley last week: we didn't get rained on, the woodpeckers are drilling, a supporter brought us special biscuits, and we were happy to be together in the space.

Planting up a couple of new spaces at #PebbleMill #PlayingFields #ForestGarden in #Stirchley last week, and adding more specimens to the lobes with our photogenic volunteers.

We had our staff meeting last week, where we discussed our operations at Fruit & Nut Village in relation to a thriving tree, from the roots right up to the fruits and nuts!

We also talked about plenty of propagation techniques, ensuring we are teaching our volunteers to the best of our abilities.

We want to thank Apna Ghar for hosting us and making a delicious lunch for us to enjoy.

We have been kindly awarded funding from @westonfdn!

Fruit & Nut Village are incredibly grateful to receive this grant, so we can continue our projects around Birmingham, expanding further as time rolls on. Plenty of sessions, workshops, and events will be elevated thanks to this generous grant. Thank you Garfield Weston for this opportunity, and thank you to our volunteers for helping us #GrowTheVillage.

We've completed the #WinterPruning of the 2nd row at #NewlandsRun in #Stirchley. We'll be back in March to work on the remaining trees!

It was a drizzly morning, but we knew that #BroadmeadowOrchard in #Stirchley needed us. All missing posts replaced, every tree cleared by azada, and woodchip mulching carried out.

Interfaith Orchard Tu B'Shvat! Winter Pruning Workshop & Picnic
